AACT Announces Season Lineup for 2022-2023

Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) is excited to announce its full 2022-2023 season!

Hands on A Hard Body

Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) is starting the engine on their 19th season with a show unlike any other, the all-American musical “Hands on a Hardbody.”

Based on the real-life documentary by the same name, this musical centers around a days-long endurance contest where one person will win a Nissan Hardbody pick-up truck by keeping a hand on it the longest. Each contestant has their own vision of the American dream that winning the truck can bring them. A new lease on life is so close they can touch it, but if you let go- you lose! This modern musical is driven by various musical styles with tuneful melodies and soulful lyrics by Amanda Green and the band Phish’s very own Trey Anastasio.

“One of the most unique and complex shows that Auburn Area Community Theatre has brought to the stage.”

“This show has a lot of heart- you’ll laugh, you might cry, and we definitely think you will leave with a smile on your face and a song in your head.”

James and the Giant Peach Jr.

AACT’s Young Performers, ages 5-11, will stage the 2nd show of the season slated to open October 6th, “James and the Giant Peach Jr.A delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, a boy and his insect friends take an amazing journey across the ocean. Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, this is a brand new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

A Holiday Walk in the Woods

For the holiday season, AACT is excited to be back for the 3rd annual “A Holiday Walk in the Woods.” After great success partnering with the Kreher Preserve last year, and after many requests for another showcase this year, we’ll be offering another festive walk in the woods filled with holiday music and cheer, showcasing members from our community. Mark your calendars for December 16th and 17th.

Sherlock Holmes

AACT’s Young Performers will be back onstage this Spring in “Sherlock Holmes.” Check back for more details soon!

AACT is thrilled to be bringing so many great shows to our area this season. This season also offers many opportunities to get involved with AACT. 1. I would love to be a volunteer and know more about auditions. I have been a member in two community theatre groups in the past (prior to moving to Auburn). I miss the work!

    1. Marcia – we have auditions Monday and Tuesday Feb 28 and March 1 for Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike. That’a also a great time to come by and meet us and find out how you can volunteer for that show or in general, even if you don’t want to audition. Look at the tab on our website for info about auditions.

  2. Hi, Marcia! Did anyone contact you? The emails may not have been forwarded to the right email. I usually get them automatically, but I don’t see that I got one from you way back in November.
Please email me if you are still interested in volunteering! AuburnAreaCommunityTheatre@gmail.com.
    Thanks!
    Andrea Holliday

  3. I recently moved to Opelika and would like more info on volunteer opportunities. I was active in 2 theatre groups in Fernandina Beach, FL doing ensemble (singing/dancing) small speaking parts, and backstage work. Recent plays have included Sound of Music, Follies, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Scrooge, and Annie. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you.

  4. I would also like to know more about auditions. I am 19 and pursuing a degree in theatre and need more experience.
